Stephen Clarke is an Irish photographer living and working in Dublin.
“I recently returned to the art of pinhole photography, and homemade cameras. I created simple cameras out of old beer cans, duct tape, and black and white photographic paper. These cameras were then installed in ticknock forest, a nature reserve near my house. They were left to expose for a minimum of three months, before I returned to collect them, and scan and process the resulting images. Attached are three of these pictures, or solargraphs as they are known. They show the passage of time from the initial day of lock down in Ireland (18/03/2020) until their collection day (05/06/2020). The bands of light in the sky mark the rising and setting of the sun over this time, reaching higher into the sky as the summer season began.”
